Last updated on January 1, 2019

Sasandu is a traditional instrument of the Island of Rote, located southwest of Timor, Indonesia. It is one of the essences of describing the great diversity of Indonesian music. The sound created from the bamboo and coconut leaves is warm and sweet.

Sasandu is played by picking the 32 strings with 3 left fingers and 3 right fingers(the thumb, index finger and middle finger). The melody is played by the left fingers and the accompaniment is played by right fingers.
