In the following example we will need to apply confix, i.e. prefix me- and suffix -i.
Confix is a synonym of circumfix. But as nouns, confix is (linguistics) an affix consisting of a prefix and suffix affixed simultaneously to the base word. As verbs confix is (obsolete) to make firm; to fix in a particular place or state.
Root: bulu (feather – noun)
- We can’t create a base verb: prefix me- + bulu → membulu as there is no such word.
- We add prefix me- and suffix -i simultaneously→ mem + bulu +i. (transitive)
- In a sentence: Dia sedang membului ayam.
- Meaning: He/She plucking the chicken feather.
