Orang-Utan

Orang-utans are apes, the largest tree-living mammals that lives in Indonesia. They are seriously in danger of becoming extinct in the wild within a very few years. Their habitat is fast being destroyed by human activities (intense permitted logging, illegal logging, conversion to palm oil plantations and farm lands, mining, settlements, road construction) and by natural phenomena (large-scale fires). They are also hunted for illegal animal trade or eaten. The word ‘orang-utan’ is derived from ‘orang’(person) and ‘hutan’(forest), thus means “person of the forest”.(Source: www.kidcyber.com.au)
