Repetition

Word repetition is usually used to indicate plural form such as mobil(car) and mobil-mobil(cars).

But some words can have different meaning when they are said/pronounced in repetition form such as follows:

Jangan buang-buang waktu Don’t waste your time
Kita pergi sama-sama yuk! Let’s go together
Jangan bilang-bilang ya .. Please don’t tell anybody
Siapa-siapa aja yang ikut? Who else is coming?
Siap-siap aja kalo ketahuan Be ready if they found out
Malu-maluin sekali It’s really embarassing
Jangan malu malu sama saya Don’t be too shy with me
Buku ini dibagi cuma-cuma This book is distributed for free
Mau jalan-jalan nggak? Do you feel like going out(going somewhere)?
Saya main musik cuma buat iseng iseng I play music just for fun
Yang datang ke rapat kita-kita aja The ones who came to the meeting was just us
Keadaan di Bali sekarang aman-aman saja The situation in Bali is so far safe
Kapan-kapan saya akan mampir I will drop by one of these days
Dia suka main guna-guna She likes doing witchcraft(voo doo)
Dia bener-bener baik orangnya He is really a kind person
Dia orangnya suka macem-macem He likes playing around(untrustworthy, not serious)
Cepet-cepet amat jalannya Why do you walk so fast
Kalo ngomong pelan-pelan dong Could you please slow down when you talk
Anak itu suka teriak-teriak di rumah orang That boy loves shouting at other people’s house
Ngomong-ngomong kemana aja selama ini? By the way, where have you been?
Mula-mula sih dia ramah, lama-lama jadi nggak sabaran She was friendly in the beginning, but after a while she became impatient
Anak-anaknya pak Tommy tinggi-tinggi semua All Tommy’s children are tall
Anak-anaknya bu Sari lucu-lucu deh Bu Sari’s children are really cute
Buku-buku di toko itu bagus-bagus semua All books in that shops are all good
Jangan-jangan dia kemacetan. I hope he’s not stuck in the traffic.
Waduh! Lagi-lagi dia .. Oh no! Not her again ..
Wah! Nggak lagi-lagi deh. Ah! I won’t do it again.
Saya nggak beli apa-apa dari toko, cuma lihat-lihat aja. I didn’t buy anything from the shop, I was just browsing.
